South Dakota is coming off its first loss of the 2017-18 season, looking to rebound against 0-2 Grambling State. The Tigers played at Iowa on Thursday night, falling 85-74. The Coyotes last played Wednesday night at TCU, falling 76-71 despite 31 points from Matt Mooney and 22 points from Tyler Hagedorn.

The Tigers
Grambling State is led by Diontae Jones, who averages 14.5 points per game while Axel Mpoyo and Anthony Gaston each average 13.5 points per game. The Tigers were tabbed to finish seventh in the preseason Southwestern Athletic Conference poll after going 16-17 overall last season.

The Coyotes
South Dakota is led by Matt Mooney who has scored 26-plus points in back-to-back games. For the season, he averages 23.3 points per game while shooting at a 50-percent clip. Tyler Hagedorn has emerged as the second-threat from USD with 16.0 points per game and a career-best performance at TCU.

The Series
Saturday's contest is the first meeting between the two schools. South Dakota has faced just one SWAC opponent in their history, an 83-79 setback in the 2012-13 season opener. Summit League schools posted a 2-0 record against SWAC opponents last season.

One Last Thing
South Dakota is set to enjoy five-straight games in the State of South Dakota. After Saturday's game against Grambling State, the Coyotes host Mount Marty on Monday before taking the short drive to Sioux Falls for three-straight games at the Sanford Pentagon. The Sanford Pentagon Showcase is slated for Nov. 24-26.
