NEWTON, Kan.—South Dakota's
Cody Seal was the runner-up as he led the Coyotes to a third-place finish at The Summit League Men's Golf Championships which was held Monday and Tuesday at Sand Creek Station Golf Course. The Summit's nine teams and 45 individuals competed.

Seal earned All-Tournament Team honors with his second-place finish. He started the final day with two bogeys on the first nine holes and dropped back to fourth-place. On the back nine, the senior birdied five holes as he shot a 3-under par 69 to move up two spots and into second-place. In the second and third rounds, he shot back-to-back 69s as he finished the tournament at 1-under par with 215 strokes (77-69-69-215). He tied for the second most birdies of the tournament with 11.

South Dakota's
Tommy Vining (tied for ninth) and
Scott Fudenberg (tied for 13
th) made it three Coyotes in the top-15. Vining shot even on the final day as he made three birdies against three bogeys. He ended the tournament in ninth at 3-over par (76-71-72-219). He made nine birdies throughout the tournament. Fudenberg shot a 71 on the final day as he moved up six spots and into a tie for 13
th at 6-over par (79-72-71-222).

South Dakota State's Grant Smith took home the individual title as he beat Seal by one stroke (71-73-70-214). Oral Roberts' Cody Burrows birdied four of the last five holes as he jumped up two spots and finished in third-place at even-par (74-73-69-216).

South Dakota State claimed the team title and the league's automatic bid to an NCAA Regional Championship. The Jackrabbits shot a 4-under par 284 in the final round as they moved past Oral Roberts and North Dakota State for the top spot. SDSU finished the championships at 13-over par (293-300-284-877). Oral Roberts shot 5-over par in the third-round and finished in second-place at 15-over par (297-289-293-879). South Dakota kept climbing the leaderboard as the Coyotes shot a 284 in the final round and took the third-place spot at 17-over par (308-289-284).

Matt Tolan finished the championships at 9-over par and placed 26
th (76-77-72-225).
Matt Swanson also competed for the Coyotes and finished in 44
th-place at 29-over par (87-81-77-245).
