Fudenberg and Michel lead Coyotes on day two in California

STOCKTON, Calif. – Scott Fudenberg and Jacob Michel each scored 1-under-par in the second round of the Visit Stockton Invitational on Friday at Stockton Country and Golf Club.
 
Fudenberg, a junior, and Michel, a sophomore, each tallied 70 strokes during the second tour of the course. Fudenberg, aided by six birdies in the round, improved by 13 positions on the leaderboard and is tied for 24th with 141 strokes. Michel totaled four birdies and is tied for 53rd with 145 strokes.
 
Freshman Ben Hicks, playing as an individual, is the top placing Coyote in the field with his 138 shots through two rounds. Hicks tallied a 1-over-par 72 on Friday and is tied for 10th place.
 
Senior Tommy Vining is tied for 38th with 143 shots after a 4-over-par 75. Sophomore Tate Arends is tied for 73rd with 149 shots and junior Matt Tolan is in 88th with 156 shots. Tolan saw an eight-shot improvement Friday with his 3-over-par 74.
 
Brigham Young, ranked No. 16 in the nation by Golf Stat, leads the field after shooting 275 strokes in back-to-back rounds. The 550 strokes are 18-under-par. South Dakota is tied for 11th at 5-over-par with 573 shots. Peter Kuest of BYU is the leader in the clubhouse with 133 shots at 9-under-par.
 
South Dakota, competing in its final event of the fall, concludes the Visit Stockton Invitational Saturday.
