Coyotes Finish Sixth at Babygrande Donald Ross Collegiate

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. — The South Dakota men's golf team placed sixth at the Babygrande Donald Ross Collegiate, wrapping up the three-day event Wednesday at Mid Pines Golf Club. 


The Coyotes finished the 54-hole tournament at +8, posting consistent rounds of +3, +3, and +2 to secure sixth place in the 20-team field. Richmond captured the team title at -6, while George Mason (-3) finished second, and James Madison and George Washington tied for third at -2. 

South Dakota was led by Joe Rohlwing, who tied for ninth individually with a three-under-par performance overall. Rohlwing closed the tournament with an even-par 72 in the final round, highlighted by a steady front nine of 34. 

Cole Witherow also finished strong for the Coyotes, tying for 19th at +1 overall after shooting an even-par 72 in the final round. Witherow carded matching 36s on the front and back nine to help anchor South Dakota's final-day score. 

Shoma Taguchi placed tied for 22nd at +2, finishing with a 73 (+1) in the final round. Parker Etzel also posted a 73 (+1) on Wednesday and ended the tournament tied for 56th at +8. 

Rounding out the Coyotes lineup was Jack Holtz, who finished tied for 76th at +11 after a 74 (+2) in the final round. 

South Dakota's consistent scoring across all three rounds helped the Coyotes remain in the top third of the field throughout the tournament, finishing ahead of several programs including Towson, St. John's, Georgetown and Bowling Green.
