PARKER, Colo. – Junior
Matt Tolan had two rounds under par to lead the South Dakota men's golf team at the Paintbrush Invitational concluding Tuesday at Colorado Golf Club. Tolan finished in a tie for sixth place while the Coyotes placed ninth at the event.

Tolan shot 1-under-par for the tournament with 215 strokes. He led the field of 72 competitors with a par-4 average of 3.93 strokes. He also ranked eighth in the field with 11 birdies. His round-by-round scores were 69-76-70, mostly completed in wet and sometimes snowy conditions at the course.

Junior
Scott Fudenberg shot his best round of the event in the final round with a 2-under-par 70. He placed in a tie for 25
th with 224 strokes, jumping 19 positions on the leaderboard in the final tour of the course thanks to five birdies.

Sophomore
Tate Arends placed in a tie for 47
th with 231 strokes while freshman
Ben Hicks totaled 234 strokes to finish tied for 55
th. Senior
Tommy Vining wrapped up the event tied for 68
th with 244 shots.

As a team, South Dakota placed ninth with 901 shots over the three rounds, just four shots out of eighth place occupied by Washington State. Colorado State won the event with 870 strokes at 6-over-par. Colorado State's Oscar Teiffel won individual medalist honors at 10-under-par with 206 strokes.

The Coyotes wrap up the fall portion of their schedule at the Visit Stockton Invitational hosted by Pacific in Stockton, California. The event runs Oct. 25-27.
