KANSAS CITY, Mo. - South Dakota was recently announced as a winner of a Team Academic Award handed out by the United Soccer Coaches. The award is bestowed upon teams led by active United Soccer Coaches members with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better for all players on the roster during the 2018-19 academic year.
 
"This award is well deserved, and all of the credit goes to the women on our team and our Student-Athlete Success Center staff here at USD," said Coyote Head Coach Michael Thomas. "Our women do a fantastic job of exemplifying what a student-athlete should be not only on the field, but also in the classroom. I'm proud to see them recognized for those efforts."
 
A total of 989 college teams (345 men, 644 women) earned the Team Academic Award. Eight of the nine Summit League women's soccer programs earned the distinction. South Dakota Coyote soccer boasted a team cumulative GPA of 3.43 at the conclusion of the 2018-19 academic year and had a composite 3.30 GPA for 2018-19.
