Trio of Coyotes receive Academic All-Summit League

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—South Dakota junior trio of Jonna Bart, Abby Ripperda and Cole Streich have been named to the Summit League's men's and women's Academic All-Summit League teams as announced by the league office Tuesday. All three receive the honor for the first time of their careers.
 
Bart, a native of Aurora, Nebraska, came on strong late in the season and earned all-Summit honors for the second-straight year. She clocked a personal best 21:29.2 for fifth place at the Summit League Championships and a place on the first team. Bart individually finished in the top-25 of four of seven meets during the season. Bart boasts a 3.96 cumulative grade-point average as an accounting and mathematics double-major.
 
Ripperda, a native of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, led the Coyotes with seven top-10 finishes this fall. She earned all-Summit League honors with a fourth-place finish at the Summit League Championships. Ripperda also garnered all-Midwest Region honors after taking eighth at the NCAA Midwest Regional. She clocked a personal best 20:49.9 for 6,000 meters to win the Bradley Classic. Her time of 16:45.5 for 5,000 meters at the Chile Pepper Festival marks the second-fastest time in league history. She also took home an individual meet title at the Augustana Twilight. She earned the Summit's October Athlete of the Month. Ripperda carries a 3.82 cumulative grade-point average as a medical biology major.
 
Streich, a native of Janeville, Minnesota, competed at four meets for the Coyotes this season. He posted a season-best of 27:14.6 at the Bradley Pink Classic. He took 39th at the NDSU Bison Open with a  time of 20:07.6 for 6,000 meters. Streich holds a 3.46 cumulative grade-point average as a business administration major.
 
To be eligible for the academic all-league team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA above 3.30, completed at least one full academic year at the nominating institution, and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions. Five men and five women were selected for the respective teams based on votes by the institutions' faculty athletic representatives and sports information directors.
