BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Sophomore
Tate Arends shot 4-under-par on Saturday to help the South Dakota men's golf team improve to a fifth-place finish at the Jackrabbit Invitational at Boulder Creek Golf Club. Arends' 68 matches a career-low round, which was aided by six birdies including five on the back nine.

As a team, the Coyotes tallied their best round of the event with 288 strokes to move up the leaderboard to fifth place with 896 strokes over three rounds. James Madison's Nacho Montero won individual medalist honors with 203 strokes at 13-under-par, while the Dukes claimed the team title with 865 shots over three rounds.

Arends, along with teammates
Tommy Vining and
Scott Fudenberg, tied for 18
th in the field with 223 strokes over three rounds. Vining, a senior, shot 4-over-par on Saturday while Fudenberg, a junior, totaled 73 shots.

Junior
Matt Tolan had his best round of the event with a 1-under-par 71 on Saturday to finish tied for 30
th with 227 strokes.
Jacob Michel, a sophomore, closed out the Coyote scoring with a 4-over-par 76 in the final tour of the course to finish with 235 strokes and tied for 63rd.

South Dakota had three individuals in the field led by freshman
Justin Kolb with 232 strokes. He finished in a tie for 51

th with 245 strokes while junior
Hunter Paugh was 86
th with 255 shots.

The Coyotes take nearly a month off before returning to action at the Missouri Tiger Invitational April 8-9.Â
