Two new Coyote Top 10 marks highlight Friday’s session

S&D: Extravaganza Day 2

SIOUX FALLS – Two new entries into the Coyote Top 10 list highlighted Friday's events at the Coyote Extravaganza inside the Midco Aquatic Center.
 
Swimming in the traditional 25-yard pool during Friday's session a pair of newcomers to South Dakota's swimming and diving program earned spots on the Coyote Top 10 charts.
 
Aidan Gantenbein, a sophomore transfer from Barton County Community College, swam 50.11 to win the 100 fly and move into 8th on the all-time list. Gantenbein, a national champion in the 50 back at Barton, also swam on a winning 400 medley relay along with Brady Torborg, Jake Leichner and Charlie Bean.
 
Lauren Van Fleet, a freshman, opened her collegiate campaign with a 58.46 clocking to win the 100 backstroke and move into 10th on the all-time list.
 
Mack Sathre, a sophomore, posted a new personal best in the 200 IM in 1:53.13 to move up to sixth on the all-time charts.
 
Madilyn Sindelar, a junior, shaved .02 off her personal best in the 100 butterfly to win in 56.37.
 
There were seven individual events contested on Friday and the 14 races saw 14 different individuals claim race victories on the evening.
 
Teagan Haberkorn, a sophomore, opened the evening session with a win in the 500 free in 5:10.97. Jacob Won, a junior, also posted a victory in the 500 free in 4:38.63.
 
Maren Iverson, a junior, won the 200 IM in 2:09.82 while claiming wins in the 50 free were senior Maddie Gallagher (24.49) and sophomore Zachary Kopp (20.66).
 
A pair of juniors posted wins in the 100 breaststroke as Isabelle Davenport swam 1:06.29 and Leichner swam 56.69.
 
Individual race triumphs also came from Torborg, a junior, in the 100 back (50.86) along with sophomore Emily Johnson (1:55.61) and freshman Trevor Sinclair (1:46.37) in the 200 free.
 
Stella Fairbanks, a freshman, claimed the one-meter diving competition on Friday with a final point total of 215.5.
 
The quartet of Fairbanks, Davenport, Lavin and Gallagher won the 400 medley relay in 3:53.12 while Gallagher, Delaney Kottke, Meghan Atwell and Sindelar teamed to win the 200 free relay in 1:38.38.
 
Winning the 200 free relay on the men's side was the fourtsome of Zachary Kopp, Bean, Caden Feit and Leichner in 1:22.28.
 
Saturday's final day schedule begins at 10 a.m. with swimming prelims, following by diving at 1 p.m., the 1650 free at 4 p.m. and the swimming finals at 5 p.m.
