VERMILLION, S.D.—The University of South Dakota Athletic Department has announced the start of Coyote Pride, a relief initiative to help offset the financial impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The department is asking the Coyote community to make a contribution, above and beyond its current giving levels, to help USD maintain its focus on the student-athlete experience and the development of a championship culture.
"We remain steadfast in our commitment to train our student-athletes and support their academic progress, and will continue to fulfill student-athlete scholarships and other educational costs to support them," said Athletic Director
David Herbster.
"That said, our fall competitions were postponed, the opportunity to generate our typical revenue has been diminished and the impact to our budget will be substantial. We are reaching out to Coyote Nation to help us continue the success of Coyote athletics during these trying times."
To that end, the department offers a
website where fans can learn more about Coyote Pride, gain insight on options to support the initiative, and get answers to questions.
