PALM VALLEY, Ariz. – South Dakota junior
Tate Arends fired off a score of 70 on the first day of the Loyola Intercollegiate to sit tied for fifth place on Saturday. As a team, USD shot a 294 after the first round to enter day two in ninth place.
The Yotes are the only Summit League team in the event. Loyola Marymount leads the team leaderboard with a score of 284 after the first day while Drake sits in second place two strokes back of first place. Delaware's Roberto Nieves leads the player leaderboard after shooting a 67 which is one stroke ahead of Loyola (MD)'s Evan Brown (68) who sits in second place.

John Fischer III shot a 73 to sit tied for 26
th place. Fischer III is competing as an individual this weekend. Sophomore
Ben Hicks, the reigning Summit League Co-Golfer of the Week, shot a 75 which has him tied for 54
th heading into the second day.

Scott Fudenberg round out the Coyote card after one round of action in Arizona. Kolb heads into day two tied for 66
th place after shooting a 76 while Fudenberg is tied for 102
nd place shooting an 80 on the first day.
South Dakota will return to action Sunday morning for day two of the Loyola Intercollegiate.
