YoteCast featuring Jenna Schlafke and Holly Gerberding

Pentathlon Champ Gerberding, WBB Asst. Schlafke join YoteCast

01.28.2021

Summit League pentathlon champion Holly Gerberding and assistant women's basketball coach Jenna Schlafke are featured in this week's YoteCast, the official podcast of South Dakota athletics hosted by John Thayer.

Gerberding is a senior medical biology major from Sturgis, South Dakota. She talks about how a random phone call from a Vermillion number helped cement her love for USD, how the voice behind that number approached her with a question during her freshman year that "turned her world upside down," and how medical school fits into her long-term plans.

Coyote women's basketball is 68-11 in two-plus seasons with coach Schlafke on staff. She joins Thayer to discuss her role as the program's recruiting coordinator, how the coaching field found her, and being a new mother. She also talks about what dominates the DVR between her and husband, Ted, the offensive coordinator for Coyote football.

But we start as we always do with Athletic Director David Herbster, who talks about the possibility of offering single-game tickets in the near future, the return of volleyball after a 13-month hiatus, and could the Summit League basketball tournament field be reduced?

YoteCast is available across a variety of platforms: Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Sticher. A new episode debuts every week. Subscribe on your favorite platform so you never miss an episode.
