12.08.2021

VERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota women's basketball is ranked No. 23 in the latest CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major preseason poll released Tuesday night.

The Coyotes have been ranked for 74 consecutive polls released by CollegeInsider.com.

South Dakota (5-4) has won three-straight games to pull above .500 on the year. All four of the Coyotes losses have been to Power 5 teams, including No. 1 South Carolina and No. 18 Texas A&M.

The trio of super seniors in Chloe Lamb, Hannah Sjerven and Liv Korngable continue to pace the Coyotes again this season. Lamb is averaging a team-high 15.9 points. She dropped a career-high 30 points to lead the Coyotes to a win over the ACC's Pitt in the U.S. Virgin Islands, earning a spot on the Paradise Jam's Reef All-Tournament Team. Sjerven followed that performance up with her own career-high 35 points against Wichita State last Saturday. She's averaging 15.2 points, a team-best 7.7 boards and a league-leading 2.1 blocks per game. Korngable joins them in double-digits with 11.7 points per game and a team-best 3.7 assists per contest.

South Dakota wraps up its three-game home stretch with Valparaiso at 7 p.m. Friday night inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
