Jensen tabbed Summit League Golfer of the Week

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota junior Leaerke Jensen has been named the Summit League Women's Golfer of the Week for her performance at the Amelia Island Collegiate this past weekend. This is Jensen's first career golfer of the week honor.

The Hobro, Denmark native, tied for the 14th place after recording rounds of 71, 74 and 84 for a total of 229. Jensen bagged five birdies in the three rounds including finishing the first round one under-par to lead the leaderboard. The 71 in the first round was a new career low in a round and her second round of par or below in her career. After 54-holes, Jensen has a 76.33 stroke average.

"Laerke played some of the best golf that I have seen her put together in her time here at USD," head coach Brett Bennett said. "The work that was put in on her part over the offseason really showed with her ball striking and short game. She was in contention for an individual title but fell short. She will put herself back in that position and have success over the course of this season. Being named golfer of the week is well deserved after this past weekend and I couldn't be prouder of her."

Jensen and the Yotes are back in action on March 1-2 in Phoenix, Arizona, at the GCU Invitational.
