Coyote Women Sit tied for eighth after Day 1

PHOENIX, Ariz. – The South Dakota Coyotes women's golf team completed day one of the GCU Invitational. After two rounds the Yotes sit tied for eighth with a score of 611. The final 18 holes will be played tomorrow.

The short story: The Yotes kicked off their second tournament of the spring season on Monday. After one round the Yotes shot 302 for 14 over-par and sat tied for seventh place. After two rounds, the Yotes fell once place to eighth heading into the final 18 holes on Tuesday.
 
TEE OFF
  • Jensen shot a 71 and 76 for a total of 147 for three over-par after two rounds. She bagged six birdies on the first day.
  • Freshman Danica Badura recorded scores of 74 & 79 for a total of 153 to sit tied for 37th after 36 holes. She recorded five birdies and 18 pars on the first day.
  • Freshman Akari Hayashi goes into the final day tied for 46th place after shooting rounds of 77 and 78. She finished the first round with five straight holes of at par or below to finish three over-par. In the second round she recorded three birdies to write a 78 on the scorecard.
  • Redshirt-junior Julia Hall recorded scores of 80 and 76 to sit tied for 51st after 36 holes. After struggling in the first round, Hall cut four strokes off and recorded two birdies in the second round to put a 76 on the scorecard.
  • Junior Emma Sabbagh struggled with in her first round of the spring season but was able to cut two strokes off her score in the second round to sit tied for 71st. She recorded scores of 82 and 80 for a total of 162.

INSIDE THE SCORECARD
  • All of Jensen's birdies came on par fours or five's on day one. She only recorded one double bogey on par 3's on day one as well.
  • The Yotes carded 25 birdies on the afternoon, 16 in the first round and nine in the second round.
 
NEXT UP
The Yotes will finish up the final 18 holes on Tuesday with another 8:30 shotgun start.
