VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota women's swimming and diving team won seven events and posted a 135-108 dual win over Omaha on Friday.
Emily Johnson and
Hannah Aitkin each won two individual events to lead the Coyotes in the 13-event meet.
Johnson, a sophomore, won the 200 free in 1:57.39 and the 100 free in 54.51. Johnson also swam the first leg of a victorious 200 free relay, joining
Maddie Gallagher,
Delaney Kottke and
Lauren Van Fleet.
Aitkin, a junior, won the two distance races contested, touching first in the 1000 free in 10:52.17 and the 500 free in 5:20.81.
Isabel Fairbanks and
Cassie Ketterling were also individual event winners for South Dakota women, now 9-3 in duals this season.
Fairbanks, a junior, won the 100 back in 1:01.25 while Ketterling, a junior, claimed the 100 fly in 1:00.58 and also finished second in the 400 IM (4:42.28).
Gallagher, a senior, was second in the 50 free in 25.22 and swam on a runner-up 400 medley relay unit that included Fairbanks,
Isabelle Davenport and
Madilyn Sindelar.
Sindelar (1:00.84) was to Ketterling in the 100 fly while Kottke finished the sweep in the event by finishing third in 1:01.28. Van Fleet was second in the 100 back in 1:01.25 while
Teagan Haberkorn was second in the 200 free in 2:01.10.
Stella Fairbanks, a freshman, was second in both diving events, scoring 237.98 in the three-meter event and 243.14 in the one-meter event.
Kristen Quigley, a junior, earned a pair of third-place finishes, touching in 4:49.34 in the 400 IM and 5:24.81 in the 500 free. Megan Atwell, a junior, was third in the 50 free and Davenport third in the 100 breast in 1:09.12.
The Coyote women close out the dual season with a trip to Brookings to take on South Dakota State next Saturday.
