South Dakota men's and women's swimming and diving teams will close out the dual portion of its 2021-22 schedule with Summit League meets against Omaha on Friday (3/5 p.m.) and South Dakota State (11 a.m./1 p.m.) on Saturday inside the DakotaDome Pool.
TEAMS
South Dakota men currently own a dual record of 5-4 record while the women are 12-4.
Omaha enters Friday's duals with records of 2-0 for the men and 2-2 for the women.
South Dakota State, meanwhile, has records of 7-3 for the men and 8-8 for the women.
SCHEDULE
Friday's dual with Omaha will consist of both diving events, nine individual events and two relays (200 medley, 200 free).
Saturday's dual with South Dakota State will consist of both diving events, 12 individual events and two relays (200 medley, 200 free).
LAST TIME
South Dakota returned to the pool for the first time in 2022 and swept a pair of Summit League duals with league newcomer St. Thomas.
The Coyotes, who claimed duals for the men's and women's team on both Friday and Saturday, swept all four Summit League Athlete of the Week honors.
Stella Fairbanks, a sophomore, won three of the four diving events, posting NCAA Zone Qualifying marks in all three wins while being named Summit League Women's Diver of the Week for the fourth time this season and ninth time in her career.
William Johnston, a senior, won all four diving events in earning Summit League Men's Diver of the Week honors for the first time this season and second in his career. He set new personal bests on the one-meter board on both days.
Zachary Kopp, a junior, won all six events, three individual and three relays, he participated in against St. Thomas.
Kopp, named Summit League Men's Swimmer of the Week for the first time, won the 50 free twice and also claimed the 200 free while swimming on winning relays, 400 medley and 200 free twice.
Mairead Powers, a freshman, won four individual events over the two days, winning the 200 IM, 100 back, 400 IM and 200 back. The Summit League Women's Swimmer of the Week also finished third in the 200 free and swam on a third place 400 free relay.
UP NEXT
South Dakota will host the two-day Coyote Invite on Friday (Jan. 28) and Saturday (Jan. 29) inside the Midco Aquatic Center in Sioux Falls.
