South Dakota wraps up non-conference play Wednesday afternoon with a home game against University of Tennessee at Martin. The game will tip off at 3:30 p.m. inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center, two hours earlier than originally scheduled. It will be followed by a men's game featuring South Dakota and Coastal Carolina at 6 p.m.
Â
It is the first meeting between the two teams. South Dakota (4-6) is trying to stop a five-game skid, it's longest at the Division I level. UT Martin (3-6) won at Vanderbilt two games ago for its signature win of the season, but was humbled Monday night in a 75-36 loss to South Dakota State in Brookings.

The Coyotes
South Dakota continues to fill roles left by last year's starting five, but early season injuries have made that task much harder. The Coyotes haven't won since
Madison Grange was injured and she marks the fourth Coyote this season expected to earn starter's minutes who has been lost to injury. Since Grange went down, the Coyotes have averaged 59 points on 33 percent shooting. Opponents, meanwhile, have averaged 77 points and shot 46 percent from the field.
Â
It has been the second quarter that has puzzled the Coyotes at home. Combined against Division I foes Creighton, Drake and Montana, the Coyotes won the first quarter 53-40 but lost the second 79-14. Montana scored the first 19 points of the second quarter in its win against USD Sunday.

The Skyhawks
UT Martin was 12-18 last year, but returns its top three scorers and added two talented freshmen in Kenley McCarn and Sharnecce Currie-Jelks. McCarn scored 31 points against Troy in her debut, but was injured in game four and has not returned. Currie-Jelks leads the team with nearly 13 points and seven boards per game. Paige Pipkin, the team's leading scorer last year, adds 11 points per game.
Â
The only good news in the setback at South Dakota State Monday was the season debut of Ella Thompson, who started 19 games last year, but missed the first eight games this year due to injury. She logged two points in 21 minutes. Currie-Jelks had 14 points on 7-of-13 shooting. Her teammates combined to make 7-of-34.
