Mülla wins PV at Bobcat Invite

SAN MARCOS, Texas – South Dakota freshman Marleen Mülla opened the outdoor season by claiming a victory in the women's pole vault at the Bobcat Invitational Friday on the campus of Texas State University.
 
Mülla's performance was part of five top six finishes at the Bobcat Invitational on Friday for the Coyotes.
 
Meanwhile, South Dakota athletes posted six top 10 finishes during the 94th running of the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays contested at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.
 
Mülla overcame an early miss at 4.05 meters to clear the next two heights, 4.20 meters and 4.35 meters, on her first attempt. Her winning height of 4.35 meters or 14-3.25 ranks fourth on the Coyotes all-time outdoor charts.
 
Marshall Faurot, a sophomore, posted a tie for second-place finish in the men's pole vault with a clearance of 5.35 meters (17-6.5), which equals his outdoor best from last spring.
 
Tre Young, a sophomore, tied for fifth in the same pole vault competition with a final height of (5.05 meters (16-6.75).
 
Lydia Knapp, a sophomore, and Jessie Sullivan, a junior, placed second and sixth in the hammer competition at Texas State. Knapp's best was 59.87 meters (196-5) while Sullivan had a top throw of 59.32 meters (194-7).
 
Sullivan opened his Friday at the Texas Relays where his collegiate best performance in the men's discus of 54.67 meters (179-4) placed him fourth in the section B event.
 
Danii Anglin, a freshman, earned a fourth-place effort in the women's high jump with a clearance of 1.77 meters (5-9.75), third on the school's all-time outdoor charts.
 
Carly Haring, a sophomore, placed ninth with a best of 1.72 meters (5-7.75).
 
Coyote relays took center stage at the Texas Relays on Friday where the women's 4x100 foursome of Erin Kinney, Jacy Pulse, Anna Robinson and Sara Reifenrath won the timed final in 46.21, the sixth-best time on the school's top 10 charts.
 
The distance medley relay quartet of Haley Arens, Madison Jochum, Alli Wroblewski and Abrielle Jirele placed seventh with a time of 11:57.62, fourth on the all-time charts.
 
The 4x400 unit of Robinson, Moe Bridgen, Pulse and Reifenrath placed 10th in 3:41.16, the second-best time in school history.
 
Saturday's slate has the Coyotes competing at a trio of meets, the Texas Relays, the Bobcat Invitational and the Wildcat Invite in Wayne, Nebraska.
