USD Early Bird set for Saturday

The Meet

South Dakota track and field will host the USD Early Bird meet this Saturday at Lillibridge Track Complex in Vermillion. Field events are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. with running events to begin at noon.

The Coyotes

South Dakota got off to a fast start at a trio of meets last weekend to open the outdoor slate. The women's 4x100-meter relay already broke the school record on opening weekend, with sophomore Erin Kinney, sophomore Jacy Pulse, freshman Anna Robinson and sophomore Sara Reifenrath combining for a time of 45.85 seconds. Pulse, also clocking a personal best in a 10th-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and running on the 4x400 relay, captured the TicketSmarter Summit League Track Athlete of the Week honor. There were 11 updates to the Coyote Top 10 in al last week, with 10 of those by women.

After an opening weekend in Texas, a Coyote leads the Summit League in 11 different events.

The Competition

Joining South Dakota in Saturday's field are student-athletes from North Dakota, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Omaha, South Dakota State, Bemidji State, Concordia-Moorhead, Concordia-St. Paul, Dakota State, Dakota Wesleyan, Iowa Central CC, Iowa Western CC, Minnesota State, Minot State, Mount Marty, MSU-Moorhead, Northern State, Sioux Falls, Southwestern CC, Southwest Minnesota State, Mary, and Wayne State. There will also be a handful of post-collegians competing in various events.
