South Dakota senior golfer Laerke Jensen earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District VI At-Large Team as selected by sports information directors in the region on Thursday. Jensen will be placed on the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot to be announced on June 15.
This marks the first CoSIDA honor for Jensen. She is also the first Coyote women's golfer to appear on the academic all-district team in the Division I era. Â
Jensen, a native of Hobro, Denmark, led the team with a 75 stroke average this season and recorded five finishes inside the top 10. Of those five finishes, four of those came inside the top five including the highest finish of her career with a runner-up placement at the Diane Daugherty Invite. Jensen also set a career-low round of 70 in the third round at the Grandover Fall Classic and a career-low 54-hole score with a 218 at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic in the fall season. She was named to the all-Summit first team to round out her senior campaign. Jensen completed her degree in accounting this spring with a 4.0 GPA.
Jensen joined tennis player Habiba Aly as the two Coyotes to appear on the list. Jensen was also one of two golfers on the all-district team.
