Coyote women ranked 11th in Midwest

NEW ORLEANS—South Dakota women's cross country jumped back up two places to No. 11 in the Midwest region in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional rankings.

The Coyotes finished runner-up in the team race at the Bradley Pink Classic on Friday. South Dakota knocked off six regionally ranked teams in the meet. Seventh-year senior Abby Ripperda led the Coyotes for the second time this season while freshman Madison Brouwer and fourth-year junior Abrielle Jirele joined her in the top-20 of the field. Fifth-year senior Ella Byers and freshman Alexis Pagel rounded out the scoring five.

The upcoming Summit League Championships on Oct. 28 are set to be a battle royale between regionally ranked teams. Summit League rivals South Dakota State and North Dakota State are No. 9 and No. 10, respectively, in this week's regional rankings.
