Coyotes unveil 2026 cross country schedule

08.20.2026

VERMILLION, S.D. – Head coach Nolan Fife is pleased to announce the 2026 South Dakota Cross Country schedule, featuring four regular season races.

The Coyotes open the season at the Augustana Twilight on Sept. 4 in Sioux Falls. The Summit League Championships are scheduled for Oct. 31 in St. Paul, hosted by St. Thomas. The Midwest Regional is scheduled for Nov. 13 in Ames, Iowa and the NCAA Championships are slated to run on Nov. 21 in Terre Haute, Indiana.

The South Dakota women's squad returns a bulk of the roster from 2025, including all-Summit League performer Geneva Timmerman who placed sixth at last year's championships. Five of USD's top six from last year's conference meet are back after a fourth-place finish.

On the men's side, the Coyotes return four of their top five from a sixth-place finish at the Summit League Championships last fall. While they didn't earn all-conference honors last fall, juniors Natnael Kifle and Isaac Ochoa earned all-conference honors as freshmen and will look to get back in the top 14 this fall.
