Top-four matchup coming to Vermillion

10.23.2023

VERMILLION, S.D.—The final two undefeated teams in the MVFC will meet in a top-four matchup Saturday inside the DakotaDome. South Dakota State is No. 1 and South Dakota is No. 4 in this week's STATS Perform Poll released Monday. The two will collide inside a sold out DakotaDome at 1 p.m. Saturday.

It will be the 117th meeting in a series that dates back to 1889. It is the first meeting in Vermillion since South Dakota's 23-20 victory in 2021 which was decided on a 57-yard touchdown pass from Carson Camp to Jeremiah Webb as time expired.

The Division I Football Championship Committee will release its FCS top 10 Thursday at 1 p.m. in a live broadcast on ESPN2. This will serve as a snapshot as to where the committee has teams ranked heading into the final four weeks of the regular season.

The Stats Perform poll is one of the variables the committee will utilize when making its considerations along with each team's won-lost record and strength of schedule. The 2023 championship field will consist of 10 automatic qualifiers and 14 at-large selections. The FCS Selection Show will air Nov. 19 at 11:30 a.m. on ESPNU.
