Coyotes close out fall season

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C.— South Dakota will close out its fall season this weekend at the Bryan National Collegiate Men's Golf Tournament hosted by the University of North Carolina Greensboro. The three-day, three-round event begins Sunday at 8:15 a.m. EST.

The tournament will be held at Bryan Park Golf Course in Browns Summit, North Carolina. The par-72 course spans 7,255 yards with a course rating of 75.8 and a slope of 142. The course opened in 1990 and has since been ranked nationally year after year by major golf publications.

The field consists of 14 teams, mostly from the east coast. William & Mary, North Carolina A&T, and Elon will represent the Coastal Athletic Association. High Point University and Winthrop University will represent the Big South. Other notable teams include Duke (ACC) and George Mason (Atlantic 10). South Dakota will be the only team representing the Summit League at the tournament.

South Dakota will send six men to the Bryan National Collegiate Men's Golf Tournament. Five Coyotes will contribute to the team score, and one will compete individually. Two weeks ago the Coyotes scored 290 (2-under) in the third round of the Throwdown Up Top at Landmand, their lowest round so far this season.

Cole Witherow shot a season best 70 (3-under) in the third round of the Throwdown Up Top at Landmand for 11th place in the individual race two weeks ago. Max Schmidke also shot 70 in round three for 16th place in the tournament. Witherow and Schmidke have the best team stroke averages, 73.75 and 73.84 respectively. They will be joined on the team side by Nick LaMotte, Logan Hamak, and Joe Rohlwing. Parker Etzel will compete individually.
