NEW ORLEANS—South Dakota women's track and field is ranked No. 23 nationally headed into the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships March 10-11 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Leading the way for the Coyotes is the No. 1 women's pole vault squad in the nation.
South Dakota is sending three women's pole vaulters to the national meet for the first time in the Division I era. Three schools – South Dakota, Virginia Tech, High Point – each qualified three women to the meet, making up nine of 16 entries in the event.
Sophomore
Marleen Mülla enters with a nation-leading height of 14-11 (4.55m). Junior
Gen Hirata has the ninth best mark of 14-4 (4.37m) and sophomore
Cassidy Mooneyhan is 15th with a height of 14-2 (4.32m).
Also qualifying for the national meet is sophomore
Danii Anglin in the women's high jump. She cleared 6-1 ¼ (1.86m) earlier this season to reach the meet in the 12th position.
South Dakota is sending four female athletes to the NCAA Division I indoor meet, a program-best on the women's side. The Coyotes qualified three athletes in 2014 and proceeded to finish a Division I era best of 10th in the team race with 18 points between Bethany Buell, Emily Grove and Megan Glisar.
