South Dakota to host Monday meet

The Meet

After weather canceled the weekend's competition, South Dakota track and field added The Monday Meet to the schedule for Monday, April 24, at Lillibridge Track Complex in Vermillion. Field events are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. with track events to start at 3:30 p.m. No admission will be charged for Monday's meet.

The Coyotes

South Dakota's women have continued to climb the national charts as the outdoor season has progressed. The Coyotes are ranked No. 34 nationally by the U.S. Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association with the No. 1 women's pole vault squad. USD has swept the women's Summit weekly honors for four-straight weeks, with fourth-year sophomore Gen Hirata and junior Jacy Pulse receiving the accolade this past week. Hirata moved to third in the NCAA standings with a personal best vault of 14-7 ¼ (4.45m), while Pulse ran on the record-breaking 4x100 and won gold in the 400 hurdles at the Mt. SAC Relays. Fourth-year junior Marshall Faurot earned the men's field honor after a season-best vault of 17-7 ¼ at the Beach Invitational. This Monday meet will provide an opportunity for athletes that did not make the trip to California last weekend to lace up their spikes.
