South Dakota will play one final tournament before the Summit League Championships in late April. The Coyotes will make the short trip down to Omaha for the Stampede at the Creek. The team will play 36 holes on Monday followed by 18 holes on Tuesday. Indian Creek Golf Course will host the event and will play as a par 72 covering 5,988 yards.
All six members of the team will play in the Stampede at the Creek for the third time this spring.
Akari Hayashi leads the Coyotes at the No. 1 spot followed by
Catie Nekola,
Danica Badura,
Molly Fossen, and
Emma Henningsson.
Alexa Wingnean will compete at the six spot. This event is a play six count four style. Each member is eligible for their score to count towards the team score unlike a traditional play five count four style. Both days of this event will begin with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.
The Coyotes placed in seventh at the Pinetree Women's Collegiate a week ago. Two individuals placed in the top-25 in Hayashi and Fossen. Hayashi ended in 18th place at the event with a 224 three-round score. It was the first top-20 finish for her this spring. Fossen tied for the team-lead with seven birdies at the event and earned a 23rd place finish with a 227 score. This was the best finish for Fossen this season.
The last time the Coyotes competed at this event last season and broke the program record for lowest 54-hole score. The team shot an 894 at the tournament, breaking a record set earlier in the season with a 904 score. Hayashi and Badura both placed in the top-10 in that event by tying for sixth place individually.
