VERMILLION, S.D.—Student-Athlete Success Center director Colleen Evans is pleased to announce the addition of Jason Burton to her staff of academic advisors. Burton joins the staff of Evans, Becky Jensen and Darin Hochstein.
Burton will serve as the academic advisor for the sports of women's soccer, women's swimming & diving and men's track & field.
Burton transitions into his new role in academic advising after spending the past two years in the University of South Dakota's registrar's office where he certified athletic eligibility. He worked with the Coyotes' compliance department tracking current student-athletes' academic progress, evaluating potential student-athletes' academic compliance and reporting academic information to the NCAA's compliance assistant and academic performance program.
Originally of Shelley, Idaho, Burton is a 2019 graduate of Pacific University (Ore.) with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He was also a tight end on the Boxers' football team for four seasons. Burton went on to complete his master's degree in coaching and athletic administration at Concordia University Irvine (Calif.) in 2021.
Burton and his fiancé, Karlee, reside in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
