2023-24 schedule announced

VERMILLION, S.D. – A floating green in Idaho, the Pat Bradley Invitational in Florida, and a trip to Puerto Rico highlight the 2023-24 South Dakota women's golf scheduled announced Friday by head coach Brett Bennett. The slate includes five fall tournaments and five spring events including the Summit League Tournament.

The Puerto Rico Classic hosted by Ball State takes place March 5-7 at Palmas del Mar Golf Club, which rests along the Caribbean Sea on the west side of the island. Close to 15 teams are expected to compete in the event. It will be the Coyotes' first trip to Puerto Rico.

"I enjoy giving our student-athletes many experiences during their time at USD and this year's schedule will certainly do that," said Bennett. "The schedule will cover many parts of the United States, along with a recognized territory in Puerto Rico. All in all, the competitiveness of the schedule will help prepare us for the Summit League Tournament and give us some great memories along the way."

The season gets underway Sept. 5-6 at the North Dakota State Invitational in Fargo, North Dakota. The Redbird Invitational follows Sept. 10-11 in Illinois. Event three is the Coeur d'Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, hosted by Gonzaga Sept. 24-26. That course features the famous floating green, a movable island that plays anywhere from 90-220 yards.

The Pat Bradley Invitational takes place Oct. 14-16 and is the final fall event. The award-winning Lakewood Ranch & Country Club serves as host. The history of the meet dates back to the 1970s.

The spring season opens at the Rio Verde Invitational in Arizona hosted by Western Michigan Feb. 23-25. Puerto Rico follows. South Dakota will look to defend its title at the Ozarks National Invitational in Branson, Missouri, March 25-27.

Omaha (April 8-9) precedes the Summit League Tournament. The Coyotes took home a third-place finish there last year after placing two individuals in the top 10 and five in the top 25.

The conference tournament returns to Wilderness Ridge in Lincoln, Nebraska, for the second straight season. Last season, the Yotes recorded their best finish at the Summit League Championships with a runner-up placement. South Dakota had three individuals land inside the top 10.
