South Dakota is seeking its first win on the young season. The team has fired 26 shots in its first two matches and has struck once with a Shaylee Gailus header in the opening match against Utah Tech. The Coyotes totaled 17 shots Saturday against Southern Utah but settled with a 0-0 tie.

Senior forward Ashby Johnston and sophomore outside midfielder Brooklyn Bordson lead the team with five shots apiece through two games. Bordson has been credited with eight crosses and seven successful dribbles inside the attacking third through two games. Johnston and sophomore forward Rylee Haldeman have both placed two shots on goal.
The Cowgirls
Wyoming opened its non-conference schedule Thursday with a 1-1 tie against Colorado School of Mines. Midfield grad student Jamie Tatum, the reigning Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year, assisted on the Cowgirls' lone goal, giving her 58 career points, which is tied for first in program history.
In their second match of the season, the Cowgirls beat Weber State 1-0. Senior forward Jazi Barela netted the second-fastest goal in Wyoming history, which came 45 seconds into the contest.
The Cowgirls are coming off a 2022 season where they shared the conference regular-season championship with New Mexico and San José State. Wyoming returns 10 starters from last season including Tatum, Barela and graduate goalkeeper Miyuki Schoyen, and are the preseason favorites in the Mountain West this season.
