VERMILLION, S.D.—Dakota Days tips off inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center on Monday, October 2. Coyote fans of all ages are encouraged to attend the free event which will feature USD men's and women's basketball skill competitions, performances by the Sound of USD and the USD Spirit Squad, a Dakota Days royalty reveal and a performance by the Electrick Jumpers.
 
Doors open for the event at 5:30 p.m. with games on the Sanford Coyote Sports Center concourse. Fans will receive free commemorative Dakota Days beads, sunglasses and more.
 
The Sound of USD and spirit squad will start the festivities on the floor at 6 p.m., followed by introductions of the 2023-24 men's and women's basketball teams. The teams will take part in contests and during breaks in the action, fans will be introduced to the Dakota Days king and queen candidates.
 
The Electrick Jumpers will provide entertainment as well. The Jumpers are a collection of National and World champion jump ropers. These jumpers have performed for several professional sports teams, cruise lines and more all around the world. The Electrick Jumpers are known for their amazing jumping ability and high-flying skills
 
South Dakota basketball begins the regular season with a doubleheader on Nov. 6 inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center. The Coyote women will face Northern State followed by the men hosting Mount Marty. Season tickets are available now at GoYotes.com/Tickets.
