Native American Heritage Game set for Jan. 27

The third annual Native American Heritage Game has been set for the Coyote women's basketball team's Saturday, Jan. 27 game vs. Kansas City. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.

The event will feature a pre-game Native American student-athlete honoring, the Lakota Flag Song, drum group performances and more. This is the first South Dakota women's basketball game to be a part of the event.

1964 Olympic gold medalist Billy Mills (Oglala Lakota) will be recognized as part of a special presentation at halftime.

The first two Native American Heritage Games have averaged over 600 Native American students and alumni join in attendance for the festivities in the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
