SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—South Dakota fifth-year senior Max Schmidtke is one of nine Summit League Golfers to Watch this spring as voted on by the league's head coaches and announced Wednesday.
 
Schmidtke has led South Dakota in stroke average in each of the last two seasons. He and teammates Nick LaMotte and Cole Witherow turned in averages of 73 this past fall. Schmidtke's fall season included a program-record tying 64 (-7) to open the 2023 Zach Johnson Intercollegiate. He placed fifth at the event with a career-best, 54-hole total of 210 (-3).
 
South Dakota returns to the links Feb. 19-20 for the World Golf Village Collegiate in St. Augustine, Florida. It is one of five meets this spring that precedes the Summit League Championships April 28-30 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
