Forte earns first Summit League Peak Performer of the Week honor

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota men's basketball's Chase Forte has earned his first career Summit League Peak Performer of the Week honor, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.
 
The Coyote point guard has been on a tear as of late, scoring in double-figures in seven straight games with four 20-point performances. In addition to filling up the scoring column, Forte also has four straight games with 5+ rebounds and 5+ assists. On the week, Forte averaged 23.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists while shooting .5233 percent from the field.
 
In the South Dakota 82-81 win over Wyoming, Forte set a new season-high while matching career best with 25 points on 8-of-14 shooting and went 9-for-14 from the charity stripe. Forte also dished out five assists, grabbed five rebounds, had one block and one steal.
 
Forte led the Yotes in scoring for the second game in a row in an 89-66 win over Western Illinois with 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting. Forte grabbed six boards (four offensive) and had five assists.
 
Forte and the Yotes close out the nonconference schedule this week with games at Utah Tech on Thursday and Santa Clara on Saturday.

  • Posted fifth 20-plus point scoring game of season with 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field in victory over the Leathernecks

  • Claimed his second straight weekly honor
  • Averaged 22.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg and 4.0 apg during a 3-0 week for the Bison that saw their winning streak extended to seven
  • Scored 25 points and went on a personal 8-0 run in closing stretch at Butler to lift NDSU to an 71-68 win
  • Added 16 points and a season-high seven assists in a 36-point win over Western Michigan
  • Combined to go 10-for-20 from three-point range in last week's three victories
