GOODYEAR, Ariz.—
Nick LaMotte notched four birdies and finished with a 2-under par score of 70, leading the charge for South Dakota in round one of the Loyola Intercollegiate in Goodyear, Arizona. As a team, the Coyotes sit in 20
th place with a score of 11-over par.
LaMotte's round saw him finish the day in a tie for fourteenth place. The Coyotes' next best finisher was
Max Schmidtke who finished in a tie for 79
th with a 3-over par score of 75. He had three birdies on the day.
Freshman
Cole Witherow was among the leaders for much of the day after knocking in three early birdies, but fell back into the pack late in the round. He finished tied for 91
st with a 5-over par 77.
Logan Hamak matched Witherow and with three birdies and a 5-over par score of 77.
Ryan Neff finished in 115
th place after posting a 14-over par score of 86.
Competing as an individual, freshman
Joe Rohlwing knocked in a team high five birdies, but struggled with consistency and finished with a 6-over par 78, good for a tie for 101
st place.
Parker Etzel also competed as an individual and finished with an 8-over par 80, placing him tied for 110
th.
North Dakota State leads the team race after day one. NDSU's Jake Skarperud and Loyola's Michael Crowley lead the individual race. The Coyotes will tee off round two at 8:45am tomorrow. Live results can be found
