VERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota women's soccer head coach
Michael Thomas is excited to announce that
Maggie Sherman will be promoted to Associate Head Coach.
Â
"Working with Maggie for the past 3 years has been a pleasure and she has been a part of some of the biggest successes in the history of the program," said Thomas. "In the last year she has stepped into a more substantial and integral role and is more than deserving of this title."
Â
Sherman has served as an assistant coach at USD for the past three seasons. Working primarily with the goalkeepers, Sherman has seen the team through one of its most successful periods as a Division I program, including two Summit League Tournament appearances. The Coyotes were second in the league with 10 shutouts in her first season in 2021, and goalkeeper Emma Harkleroad led the nation in save percentage.Â
Â
Before USD, Sherman was an assistant coach at Southern Utah. She earned her undergraduate degree from Colorado State in 2015. Sherman served as the goalkeeper for the inaugural CSU women's soccer team in 2013 and earned Academic All-Mountain West honors. She received her master's degree from Ohio University in 2020.Â
Â
"Thanks to
Michael Thomas, Corey Jenkins, Alexa McMillen and everyone else that worked to help get me to where I am now," said Sherman. "I am thrilled about the opportunity to be a part of the growth of USD women's soccer. I look forward to a bright future for our program. This team is super important to me, and I am excited to grow with them. Go Yotes!"
Â
Sherman's new duties begin immediately.
