06.07.2024

VERMILLION, S.D.—University of South Dakota athletic director Jon Schemmel has announced the hiring of Chad Green as the Coyote men's golf head coach.

Green brings 16 years of experience as a head golf coach at the collegiate level, building up successful programs at the NCAA Division II and Division III levels.

"I am thrilled to have Chad Green join us as head coach for our men's golf program," said USD deputy athletic director Corey Jenkins. "Chad has a proven track record of leading his teams to high levels of success on the course and in the classroom. The combination of his passion for teaching the game of golf and positively impacting the lives of student-athletes made him the perfect fit to lead Coyote men's golf. I am extremely excited to welcome Chad, his wife Meredith, and their daughter Nora to the Coyote family."

Green comes to Vermillion from Missouri University of Science & Technology, where he helped launch the Miners' reinstated golf program over the past eight years. He coached one Great Lake Valley Conference Golfer of the Year, two GLVC Freshmen Golfers of the Year, two NCAA Division II All-Americans, five top-five finishes at the GLVC Championship and seven all-GLVC honorees while in Rolla, Missouri.

"I am extremely grateful and thrilled to be named head coach of the University of South Dakota men's golf team," said Green. "I'm excited to get to Vermillion and hit the ground running. Secondly, I would like to thank my wife for her unwavering love and support. She's always been my biggest fan and number one supporter."

Prior to arriving at Missouri S&T, Green spent six years as the head men's golf coach at Central College in Pella, Iowa. His team at Central made four NCAA Division III Tournament appearances and captured four Iowa Conference championships in his six seasons. He was named the Iowa Conference Coach of the Year four times.

Green also spent two seasons at Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri, as the head women's coach and assistant men's coach. Other experience includes working as an assistant golf professional and as the director of instruction at various country clubs.

A graduate of Clarke University in Iowa, Green completed his bachelor's degree in sociology in 2008. He was a three-time all-conference honoree on the golf course.

Green is joined by his wife, Meredith, and their daughter, Nora.
