West Des Moines, Iowa — Max Schmidtke (Gr.), representing USD men's golf, stepped up to the tee on hole five with his five iron where he made a drive of 210 yards that ended in a hole-in-one.
Schmidtke made hole No. 5 of the Oxbow Country Club look really easy earlier in the morning during round one of the Zach Johnson Invitational, hosted by Drake University. Officially, Schmidtke has clenched his first ever collegiate career hole in one, but this is not the first time this has happened in his lifetime. During his high school career was when he first accomplished this very difficult feat.
Max Schmidtke was able to use round two as a redemption round for his overall standing as he was tied for 11
th concluding round one and jumped up seven spots to end the day tied for fourth place. Schmidtke's round scores totaled at 140 showing he was -2 on the day.
Teammate,
Parker Etzel, is golfing individually but is putting up low numbers for the Coyotes. His round scores came out to be 70 & 72 putting him in a position where he is tied for 12
th place overall. Special mention of Etzel's eagle shot on hole four of round one and his total combined birdies amounting in eight.
