PREVIEW: Coyotes hit the road for Mark Colligan Memorial Saturday

LINCOLN, Neb. – Coming off a strong weekend inside the DakotaDome, the South Dakota track & field program heads south to Lincoln, Nebraska for the Mark Colligan Memorial Saturday.
 
THE MEET
The Mark Colligan Memorial is scheduled to start at 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the Devaney Center Indoor Track in Lincoln, Nebraska. South Dakota joins Kennesaw State, Wichita State, and the host, Nebraska, as the teams competing in the meet.
 
Field events, starting with the men's weight throw, begin at 10:45 a.m. The men's and women's long jump competitions begin at 11:30 with the men's high jump and pole vault competitions starting at noon. On the track, events begin with the 60-meter hurdle prelims at noon.
 
Live streams for track events, high jump, horizontal jumps, pole vault, and throws are all available on Nebraska's website with events beginning at 10:45 a.m.
 
PEAK PERFORMERS
Three Coyote athletes earned Kwik Star Summit League Peak Performer of the Week this week after standout performances at the USD Alumni Meet.
 
Erin Kinney won two events (60-, 200-meter dashes) and currently has the top time in the Summit League in both events to earn the Women's Track Peak Performer honor.
 
Landon Olson won the high jump with a Summit League leading 7-2 ½ clearance to earn Men's Field Peak Performer. Olson moved to tied for second in USD's indoor program history at that height.
 
Cassidy Mooneyhan took second in the pole vault at 14-6 ¾, moving her to third in the Coyote Top 10 indoor and giving her the Women's Field Peak Performer award.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Including performances from the three Peak Performers for the Coyotes, South Dakota won 12 events in total at the USD Alumni Meet.
 
Ethan Baessler (60-meters) and Ken-Mark Minkovski (200-meters) won men's track events, with Baessler tying for second in the Coyote Top 10 in the 60-meters at 6.73 seconds in the 60-meters.
 
Averi Schmeichel won the women's 60-meter hurdles in 8.48 seconds, and placed runner-up to Kinney in the 60 and 200. Calli Davis won the 400 to round out the women's track titles.
 
The Coyotes also brought home a handful of field event titles. On the women's side, Danii Anglin (high jump; 5-7), Matayah YellowMule (triple jump; 38-6 ¾), and Delany Smith (weight throw; 63-5 ½) won events. Bennett Schwenn (long jump; 23-7 ¼), Jayden Green (triple jump; 47-0 ¼), and Brandon Vander Sluis (shot put; 56-7 ½) won events for the men. Vander Sluis climbed to No. 7 in the Coyote Top 10 in the shot put with his winning heave.
