TULSA, Okla. — South Dakota volleyball extended its winning streak to three matches Saturday with a 3-2 win over Oral Roberts at the Mabee Center and move to 19-9 on the season and 11-4 in Summit League play.

The Coyote middles, Morgan Bode and Amanda Loschen had themselves an afternoon, as Bode led the team with 13 kills on a .290 hitting percentage, while Loschen had 11 kills on a .370 clip with a match-high eight blocks. Bode also had four blocks (two solo) and a pair of aces.

The Yotes tallied 12.0 blocks as a team and following the Yotes middles production was Avery Van Hook with four blocks and Audrey Nelson with three.

Samantha Laird put away 12 kills on the outside and had three digs, while Nelson had seven kills and Lauren Medeck had five kills in her first match since Oct. 23. Kamryn Farris set a new season-high with 27 digs and her served her 38th ace of the season, while Sierra Pokharel had nine digs and two aces. Van Hook dished out 47 assists and had 11 digs.

The Yotes set the tone with a 25-13 first set win behind a .267 hitting percentage while holding ORU to a .000 clip. Bode and Loschen had it going from the jump as they combined for six kills on eight swings with no errors. While the Yotes held the lead for the entirety of the first set, other than the score tying twice, the Golden Eagles stayed within striking distance of the Coyotes lead until the midway point. South Dakota held a 14-10 lead and would outscore ORU 11-3 over the final 14 rallies to take the first set and secure its fourth straight set holding an opponent to 15 points or fewer.

The Yotes hit .256 in the second set, but the Golden Eagles ramped up their offense putting away 15 kills on a .306 swing rate, which were both match highs for ORU. The Yotes took the largest lead of the set (4) a number of times but were unable to break open the scoring similar to the end of the firs set. Oral Roberts held the lead late, but a mini 4-1 run for the Yotes pulled the score to within one, 21-20. ORU reached set point, but Van Hook responded for USD by calling her own number for a kill, but the Golden Eagles secured the set with a kill on the next rally.

The third set saw both offenses struggle a bit with the Yotes hitting .075 to ORU's .081. Each team had a combined double-digit errors from attacking, setting and service miscues. Oral Roberts opened the set with a 5-0 run, and while USD chipped away at the lead and pulled within two following back-to-back from Loschen and Nelson, the Golden Eagles held the lead through and through for a 25-21 set win.

Facing a 2-1 deficit in the match, Bode caught fire in the fourth set with six kills on 10 swings with no errors, while Loschen was a force at the net taking part in all four Coyote blocks. USD swung at a .278 clip in the fourth, while holding ORU to a .024 swing rate. ORU scored the first two points, but the Yotes would answer as the lead changed hands for the only time following a kill from Medeck that made it 4-3 early. Bode started a 9-2 run where she was heavily involved with five kills to take a 14-6 advantage. South Dakota held the Golden Eagles at bay throughout the rest of the set and sent the match to a fifth set off a block by Van Hook and Loschen to win the fourth set 25-13.

Oral Roberts held an 8-6 lead as the teams' changed sides in the fifth set, and after a service error by ORU, Katherine Thompson found the perfect time to serve up her first ace of the season to tie the set at 8-all. ORU, however, answered with a kill to retake the advantage, but a kill from Laird started a 7-2 Coyote run to close out the 3-2 match win for USD. Loschen had a pair of kills and teamed up with Laird for a block in the closing moments of the match.

The Coyotes return to the Sanford Coyote Sports Center for the final time in 2025 on Tuesday to host North Dakota State in the regular season finale.
