PREVIEW: Coyotes head north for final meet before conference

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The South Dakota Track and Field program gets one final conference tune-up opportunity this week as they head to Brookings for the SDSU Last Chance Friday.
 
SDSU LAST CHANCE INFO
The SDSU Last Chance is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. Friday inside the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings. Field events start at 3:30 p.m. while the track events will get underway at 4 p.m.

SUMMIT LEAGUE PEAK PERFORMERS
Eerik Haamer earned his fifth Kwik Star Summit League Men's Field Peak Performer of the Week honor of his career this week after a season's best performance at the Tyson Invitational Friday. Haamer cleared 18-2 ¾ in the men's invitational pole vault competition to reach a new season's best.
 
The Coyotes have compiled eight Summit League weekly honors so far this winter. The full list of Coyote honorees this season by week:

NATIONAL RANKINGS
In week four of the USTFCCCA Rankings, the Coyote men stayed at No. 11 in the Midwest Region, the top Summit League team in the region, and rank third in the Summit League rankings.
 
The Coyote women rank higher than any Summit League team in the Midwest Rankings, coming in 11th this week. In the conference ratings, South Dakota sits third in the Summit League.
 
In the event rankings, the South Dakota women sit fourth in the pole vault while the Coyote men rank sixth in the NCAA in the same event.
