PREVIEW: South Dakota ready for Summit League Championships Friday, Saturday in Brookings

BROOKINGS, S.D. – South Dakota men's track and field is prepped and ready to defend their Indoor Summit League Championship while the women's group is looking for their first indoor title since 2023.
 
SUMMIT LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP INFO
The Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championships are set to begin at 9:30 a.m. both Friday and Saturday inside the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings. Multis start at 9:30 a.m. both days. Field events start at 3 p.m. Friday afternoon and 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Track events begin at 3:30 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday.
 
All results can be followed live on Dakota Timing. All streaming of the championships can be found on the Summit League Network powered by Midco Sports Plus. There are streams dedicated to the track, high jump, pole vault, horizontal jumps, and throws.
 
SUMMIT LEAGUE PEAK PERFORMERS
Eerik Haamer earned his sixth Kwik Star Summit League Men's Field Peak Performer of the Week honor of his career this week after a season's best performance at the SDSU Last Chance Friday. Haamer cleared 18-3 ¾ in the men's pole vault competition to reach a new season's best.

NATIONAL RANKINGS
In week five of the USTFCCCA Rankings, the Coyote men stayed at No. 11 in the Midwest Region, the top Summit League team in the region, and rank third in the Summit League rankings.
 
The Coyote women rank higher than any Summit League team in the Midwest Rankings, coming in 11th this week. In the conference ratings, South Dakota sits third in the Summit League.
 
In the event rankings, the South Dakota women sit fifth in the pole vault while the Coyote men rank sixth in the NCAA in the same event.
