SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- South Dakota swimming and diving team member Emily DiProspero has been named the KwikStar Summit League Peak Newcomer of the Month for the month of February, the league announced Wednesday. 

DiProspero, a freshman from Mt. Pleasant, Wisconsin, was named Newcomer of the Championships at the recently completed Summit League Championships held in Iowa City, Iowa. 

DiProspero swam to four runner-up performances at the Summit League Championships with three of those being individual events. She overcame a mishap with her goggles to finish second in the 1650 free while also placing second in the 200 free and 500 free. She swam the lead off leg of a runner-up 800 free relay that set the school record. 

She set the school record in the 1650 free and 1000 free during the championships while moving up to second all time in the 200 free and 500 free.
