VERMILLION, S.D. — The calendar has turned over to the third month of 2025 which means football returns to Vermillion, in the form of spring practice. Head coach
Travis Johansen has announced the spring practice dates which culminates to the inaugural Coyote Football Family Day slated for April 12.
Practice is set to begin on March 21 with the 15 officially sanctioned practices scattered throughout the month of March and April. Practices and workouts are closed to the general public.
South Dakota's Pro Day is scheduled for Wednesday, March 26 that will see 15-20 Coyotes participate for pro scouts inside the DakotaDome.
New this year is the Coyote Football Family Day set for April 12. This event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 1 p.m. with the team partaking in 7-on-7 and individual skill competitions for an hour. That will be followed by a youth football clinic, hosted by Coyote student-athletes, open to students from kindergarten to eighth grade at no cost. Following the clinic, Coyote athletes will sign autographs for fans in attendance.

The 2025 season opens with back-to-back road games as the Coyotes will face Iowa State (Aug. 30) and Lamar (Sept. 6).
