SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – After receiving second team all-American status earlier this month, South Dakota senior
Eerik Haamer earns the Summit League Men's Field Athlete of the Year honor, announced by the league office Thursday afternoon.
Haamer placed ninth at the NCAA Championships in the pole vault, clearing 18-2 ¾ (5.56m). He took fourth at the Summit League Championships and won the pole vault at the SDSU Last Chance with a season's best 18-3 ¾ (5.58m).
During the season, Haamer earned two Kwik Star Summit League Peak Performer of the Week honors, bringing his career total to six. He placed inside the top five in every competition he entered until the NCAA Championships. Haamer cleared 18-0 three times over the course of the season.
Haamer is now a two-time Summit League Field Athlete of the Year, winning the award for the outdoor season in 2022, and now the 2025 indoor season. He is a five-time all-American and a two-time Summit League Champion.
