WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Cloudy skies and mid 50s temperatures set the stage in West Lafayette for the first day of the Boilermaker Invitational, hosted by Purdue University. The Coyotes posted team scores of 296 and 284, respectively.
 
Joe Rohlwing posted a 69 (-2) first round to pace the Coyotes, sitting T17th after the first two rounds on the course. Not far behind was Jack Holtz who sits even (E) with a pair of 71s on the day, sitting T31st heading into the third round tomorrow.
 
A tough first go at Ackerman-Allen Golf Course, but South Dakota made adjustments for the second 18 to improve the team round score by 12 strokes to move up to 14^th after the first day of competition.
 
The second round saw Max Schmidtke, Logan Hamak, and Cole Withrow card better rounds to help the Yotes slide up a spot to end the day. After posting an 80 in Round 1, Schmidtke improves his score by 10 strokes with a 70 (-1) in the second round.
 
The hosts from Purdue lead the field after a strong second round with the day's best round score of 268, moving up three spots. Purdue's Sam Easterbrook leads the field with his -5 two-round score (69, 66).
