VERMILLION, S.D. — The University of South Dakota men's golf team began the 2025–26 season on a high note, earning a second-place finish at the Red Bandanna Invitational. It was held over two days in Verona, New York and hosted by Boston College.
The Coyotes opened the tournament with a team score of +19 in the first round, placing them second overall behind the host team, Boston College. Parker Etzel led the way early, finishing the opening round sixth individually at +6.
The second round, played later that same day, marked a strong showing for South Dakota. The team scored a +9, one of the best rounds of the weekend, while maintaining their second-place position. Parker Etzel delivered a standout performance, shooting a 2-under-par round to finish the day at the top of the individual leaderboard.
The final round teed off at 7:00 a.m. on September 1st. Shoma Taguchi led the Coyotes in the third round with a personal tournament-best +1, helping to secure the team's runner-up finish. Lance Hamak also impressed, recording a +3 in the final round to notch his first career top 10 finish in his official collegiate debut.
