MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – The South Dakota Coyotes Women's Tennis team finished day two with a strong five win day.
The South Dakota Coyotes women's tennis team delivered a strong showing on Day 2 of the Gopher Invite, highlighted by several key singles victories and a solid finish in doubles play. Leading the charge in singles was Anna Medvyedyeva, who dominated her match against Marquette's Elise Barnstedt with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 win. Selena Bird and Kayleigh Didderiens also added to the Coyotes momentum with straight-set victories over opponents from North Dakota and Marquette, respectively. Bird posted a 6-3, 6-4 win over Ethel Li, while Didderiens beat Maria Poon 6-4, 6-3. Keta Shavishvili rounded out the singles wins for South Dakota with a gritty three-set triumph over Lily Olson of St. Thomas, prevailing 6-4, 3-6, 10-7.
In doubles action, the duo of Selena Bird and Kayleigh Didderiens earned redemption from an earlier loss to Minnesota's Ma and Knezevic by defeating Northern Iowa's Li and Raznatovic 6-2.
The Coyotes are back in action for the final day of the Gopher Invite, tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m.
