OMAHA, Neb. — The South Dakota women's tennis team earned four singles victories, and one doubles win at the Creighton Invite in Omaha, Nebraska.
Nastya Soloveva, Aiya Myrzakulova, Cassy Marra and Natalia De Lima each picked up singles wins for the Coyotes.
Soloveva defeated Northern Iowa's Yangjiaxin Li 6-2, 6-3. Myrzakulova earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Creighton's Ella Lewis, while Marra defeated Creighton's Olivia Minikel 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (6). De Lima rounded out the singles victories with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Northern Iowa's Abbie Peterson.
In doubles action, Marra and Myrzakulova teamed up to defeat Creighton's Jurrens and Daud 6-4.
"Although the girls competed well, we weren't able to capitalize in the right moments, and that caused us to lose some close matches," said coach Zinchenko. "The toughest pill to swallow was picking up a couple of injuries. It's always disappointing to have days like this, but I'm confident we will learn from it and get better. The main focus now is to get healthy and prepare for our last tournament of the fall, where we can hopefully play to our full potential."
The Coyotes will turn their attention to their final tournament of the fall season on October 31st at the Drake Invite in Des Moines, Iowa.
